Terrace Room 301 at the Lantern Inn
The award-winning Lantern Inn hospitality complex comprises two completely restored, air-conditioned, smoke-free buildings. The Lantern Inn building, served by an elevator, has twelve spacious bedrooms with private baths. The adjacent Lantern Suites building has an additional eight rooms in four efficiency suites, each with full kitchenette facilities and two bedrooms/baths.
The Lantern Inn, a beautiful heritage designated hotel building in Port Hope, Ontario (one hour east of Toronto), was designed by William Thomas, architect of Toronto's St. Lawrence Hall, St. Michael's Cathedral and other famous early buildings, and built in 1845.
Rooms are a faithful reproduction from that period. The cherry and mahogany furniture is handcrafted Canadian furniture c. 1840, fabrics and colours are documentary. The spacious hotel rooms, high ceilings and strong mouldings are of the period, as are the large windows and their treatment.
